How to Connect Google Ads to Google Analytics!

Create A Google Ads Account (for free)

Set up your Google Ads Account:

  • Go to ads.google.com and create an account.
  • Setup Google Ads settings and billing.
  • Use the same email for Analytics and Ads.

Create ads on Google ads:

To create your Google Ads account, you’ll need an email address and website for your business. Even if you don’t have a website, you can still advertise on Google using Smart campaigns, the default Google Ads experience for new advertisers. You can also create your first ad in just 15 minutes.

  • On the left-side menu, click Campaigns.
  • Click the plus button , then select New campaign.
  • Select your advertising objective for the campaign.
  • Scroll down, then choose your conversion goals and click Continue.
  • Choose your campaign type and click Continue.

Create A Google Analytics Account (for free)

Setup GA settings and property for conversion tracking and data sharing.

  • Go to analytics.google.com and create an account.
  • Click Sign in (at top right), and select Analytics.
  • Use the same email for Analytics and Ads.
  • If you are already signed in to Google (e.g. you are signed in to your Gmail account), you’ll be taken directly to the Analytics user interface. Otherwise, you will be prompted to enter your Google account (e.g. Gmail account) and password.

Setup the Linking Process

  • Choose Google Analytics from list.
  • Turn on “Optimize Sharing Settings”.
  • Turn on “Auto Tagging”.
  • Find the proper Google Ads Account to link.
  • From Account Settings, go to Property Settings > View Access Management > set up all preferences.
  • Make sure the proper ID is linked.
Confirm linking and make sure all data is sharing
  1. Click on “All Website Data” and select the correct account.
  2. Check website and app property is linked.
  3. Go to admin and make sure you are a manager or admin under Account access management.
  4. Provide access to the business owner or any staff member.
  5. Go to account settings and make sure all data sharing services and optimizations are turned on.
  6. Accepts terms and save profile.
Use Google Tag Assistant to check if you have tracking setup on your website
  • Find and download Google Tag Assistant Chrome Extension.
  • Go to your website and click on the Tag Assistant button on the Chrome extension bar.
  • Enable tracking when the prompt comes up.
  • Refresh screen.
  • You will see the result of the tag analysis if it is working correctly.

Setup Your Marketing Goals using Analytics or GTM

  • Go to Google Analytics.
  • Select Account Settings > Google Ads Links.
  • Get your costumer ID number from Google Ads.
  • Check the button for the account you wish to link and click ‘Continue’.
  • Turn on the “All Website Data” toggle button and click on “Link Accounts”.
  • Now you can see metrics, create audiences, and import / assign goals.

Make sure link is successful on your Google Ads account and that is it!
